About Us
Redland city offers a relaxed lifestyle just 30kms from Brisbane city. It is a wonderful place and to those of us that live here we love our environmental mix of beautiful Moreton Bay and its Islands to our treasured bushland and wild life habitat.
Whether you live in one of our town centres or village hubs, on an island or on acreage, in a house, unit or villa, our area is special. There is a real sense of belonging and a strong community spirit built around our vibrant mix of cultures and diverse sporting and artistic interests.
The history of the area began thousands of years ago when the Quandamooka people were the traditional owners that lived on and around this place. They practised responsible management of the land, sea and resources, so today we can all share the benefits from that heritage. When European farmers and graziers began moving into the region, they established a thriving community based on market gardens and sugar plantations. Their enterprise earned Redlands the reputation as being “the salad bowl of Brisbane” to which we inherited a wonderful community spirit that still thrives today.
In keeping with that spirit, the Redland Foundation was established in 2008 with a vision to
- Provide an opportunity for the community to be an active part of long term planning for its own needs and aspirations
- Make and build capacity within our community to address our local needs
and create opportunities.
- Encourage all community members - individuals, families, companies, trusts and institutions to invest in the future of the Redlands,
- Continue to build our local community and strive to ensure our quality of life now and into the future.
- Be Redlands leading philanthropic organisation.
